At the beginning of the conversation, Vice President of JSC "CMSR" Tairov R.A. congratulated Jorge Urbiola Lopez de Montenegro on his recent appointment as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Spain to Kazakhstan, wishing him success in his future activities.
The participants of the meeting positively characterized the current state of bilateral Kazakh-Spanish cooperation, including military and military-technical. It was noted that a powerful impetus to this cooperation on a mutually beneficial basis was given by the Agreement on Expanded Partnership and Cooperation between Kazakhstan and the EU countries, which entered into force in March 2020.
During the conversation, Tairov R.A. spoke about the activities of JSC "CMSR" as one of the leading think tanks in Central Asia.
The interlocutors exchanged views on topical issues on the international agenda and pressing challenges of our time. Particular attention was paid to the situation in Afghanistan, caused by a sharp change in the military-political situation in this country, since the Central Asian states are in close proximity to the hotbed of tension.
Vice-President Tairov R.A. And Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Spain to Kazakhstan Jorge Urbiola Lopez de Montenegro discussed promising vectors of cooperation – holding scientific and practical events that will contribute to ensuring regional security, countering extremism and terrorism, cybersecurity at critical infrastructure facilities, technology transfer to the military-industrial complex of Kazakhstan, participation of Spanish companies in exhibition events, including "KADEX-2022", the VI International Exhibition of Weapons and Technologies, scheduled for May 2022 in Nur-Sultan.
Special attention was paid to cooperation in establishing close contacts between CMSR JSC and leading think tanks in Spain – the Barcelona Center for International Relations (CIDOB), the Royal Elcano Institute and other similar organizations.
The participants of the meeting expressed confidence in further successful cooperation in the interests of the two countries.
