On May 19, 2021, within the framework of the memorandum of cooperation between the Center for Military Strategic Research JSC and the National Defense University of the Islamic Republic of Iran, an international expert meeting on regional security was held in an online format.

The international expert meeting was opened by the President of CMSR JSC, Reserve Major General Karbuzov K-K.Zh. and Deputy Head of the Higher National Defense University and Head of the National Security Research Institute, Major General Nasrullah Kalantari.

The event was held in the format of a live discussion, where experts discussed the following issues: new challenges threatening the security and stability of the countries of Central Asia, the Middle East, the impact of cybersecurity threats on the situation in the countries of the Caspian region, ways to resolve possible negative consequences for the Central Asian region after the withdrawal of US troops from Afghanistan, the Belt and Road initiative".

Following the results of the expert meeting, proposals were made for the further development of scientific cooperation on countering religious terrorism and extremism, hybrid wars, drug and arms trafficking in the countries of the region.
