At the National Military-Patriotic Center of the Armed Forces in Astana, an event was held dedicated to the memory of the Hero of the Soviet Union, Khalyk karmany, the first Minister of Defense of Kazakhstan, Army General Sagadat Nurmagambetov. The organizers were the Center for Military Strategic Studies and the Central Council of the Russian Public Organization “Veterans of the Armed Forces”.

The symposium was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Defense, the Archive of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Center for Military Strategic Studies, as well as military personnel, veterans, cadets of the Astana Military College, undergraduates of the National Defense University.

Minister of Defense Colonel General Ruslan Zhaksylykov spoke about the events held in honor of Nurmagambetov’s anniversary.

Symposium participants noted the significance of the personality of Sagadat Nurmagambetov, who devoted more than 50 years to the army, going from the commander of a machine gun platoon during the Great Patriotic War to the Minister of Defense of the Republic of Kazakhstan and his contribution to military-patriotic education.

Army General Mukhtar Altynbaev shared his memories of Nurmagambetov, and the President of the Center for Military Strategic Studies, Major General Askhat Ryspayev, presented a scientific work for the general’s anniversary. Director of the Archive of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Aliya Mustafina spoke about the collected materials, some of which were exhibited at the event.

The daughter of the national hero, Aisulu Nurmagambetova, thanked the participants of the symposium via video link. The event ended with the presentation of memorial signs and a festive concert.
